OUTBACK CUP HOLDERS
The Subaru Outback features deeper-than-average cup holders, measuring around 5 inches deep. This design is intentional to accommodate a wide range of beverage containers, including larger water bottles and travel mugs, while ensuring stability during drives, even on uneven terrain.
Big respect to Subaru for thinking about reusable drink containers in their cup holder design, but let’s be real, do they really think most Subaru drivers are using their cars for offroad outdoor activities?
We use our Outback for myriad outdoor activities, and none of my reusable and recyclable drink containers fit in the cup holders. Then it dawned on me — a Stanley mug would probably fit perfectly. We got rid of ashtrays in cars, only to have cup holders designed by Karens?
For now, I’m happy to keep my Nalgene bottle where it belongs: unreachable and rolling around on the floor behind my seat.
REDDIT IS JUST GREAT
Here’s what the r/SubaruOutback Subreddit had to say on the topic of cup holders.
Great question, and bravo for capturing the perfect reference photo — this should spark a productive conversation.
The Tim Hortons cup was probably asking for trouble, but this guy is just proving our point.
I don’t fully get it, but the ‘druggy Canada’ comment is objectively funny.
Shout out to the ‘09 Outbacks! But the newer ones don’t fit a Nalgene bottle perfectly. Or imperfectly.
Anybody else have a cool hack or suggestion?
Thanks, it doesn’t.
IF IT’S NOT COOL, JUST ADD ICE!
After the week we have had with your King, the druggy comment is TOO SOON.
